Wold renowned Kinsey Collection Comes to MTCC

Join MTCC for the opening of our largest exhibit to date, African American Treasures from the Kinsey Collection. This once in a life changing exhibit, that is currently on display at Epcot Center at Walt Disney World will open at MTCC on Friday, April 8, at 6PM. The exhibit contains rare, one of a kind artifacts that will be displayed in Arkansas for the first time ever. These artifacts work to dispel the myth of absence and demonstrate that African American history is American history.

The opening will feature a presentation by the Kinseys, refreshments, and live entertainment provided by Rodney Block and the Real Music Lovers.

Batesville museum to offer free school tours during Archeology Week

BATESVILLE, Ark. - After receiving a grant in February, the Old Independence Regional Museum decided to use Archeology Week as a time to allow over 1,000 students to get in free. 

Not only did the Bill Jordan Education Grant give the museum a funds, but it also included the admission of 1,200 school students and a $50 stipend for each class's bus driver during Archaeology Week. 

“We are excited to have the opportunity to provide free tours to our regional schools. The Archeology Week programs offer a hands-on supplement for classes that have studied or will study Native American culture and Arkansas History,” said museum Humanities Educator, Amelia Bowman. “Archeology is essential in understanding past cultures and this is a great way for students to gain experience.”

Museum to offer free program for senior citizens

Museum to offer free program for senior citizens

BATESVILLE, Ark. - The staff and volunteers at Old Independence Regional Museum will be hosting a Christmas program for area senior citizens on Tuesday, December 16, 2015 at 10 a.m.

Museum volunteer Ann Mobley will demonstrate a variety of homemade Christmas crafts. Afterwards, participants will create their own Christmas tree ornament. This program is free. Space is limited to 25 participants and reservations are required. 

Call the The Old Independence Regional Museum at (870) 793-2121 to make a reservation. 

The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday-Saturday.  Regular admission is $3 for adults, $2 for seniors and $1 for children.  The museum is located at 380 South 9th Street, between Boswell and Vine Streets in Batesville.

The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. at Synergy HR, LLC located at 3240 Harrison St. in Batesville.

All community supporters, chamber members, ambassadors, board members and staff are invited to attend.

The ground breaking ceremony will be at 10:30 a.m. at Breck’s RV Park and Country Store located at 897 Batesville Blvd.

BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) will hold a ribbon cutting for Fun Time Vacation/Cruise One and Impulse Boutique. 

The ribbon cutting for Fun Time Vacation/Cruise One will be held on Tuesday, October 13 at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the BACC, located at 409 Vine Street in Batesville. 

The ceremony for Impulse Boutique will be held on Thursday, October 15 at 1 p.m. The event will be located at 3244 Harrison Street in Batesville. 

All community supporters, chamber members, ambassadors, board members, and staff are invited to attend both ribbon cuttings.
