BATESVILLE, Ark. - According to Supertintendent Roger Rich, Southside District schools will be closed Monday, Feb 7. due to inclement weather.

Fine Arts Day rescheduled

BATESVILLE, Ark. - Lyon College has rescheduled Fine Arts Day for Feb. 26.

The event was originally slated for Jan. 15. The next spring semester Honors Day competition remains and Feb. 26.

Fine Arts Day is an event for high school students who are interested in the fine arts. Students will have the opportunity to visit with art and music professors who can answer all of their questions about what Lyon can offer them. There will be sessions that explore studio art, musical performance, and composition. After the morning sessions there will be plenty of time for portfolio reviews and musical auditions for fine arts scholarships.

Honors Day is an an event open to students accepted at Lyon College and having either a 3.25 GPA or better or an ACT composite score of 23 or better. Honors Day is a four-part competition that gives prospective students a chance to earn scholarship money including full tuition, room, board, fees and books.

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Batesville Area Arts Council presents its “Arts in Education” series, which features various artists working with students on creative projects. Upcoming events include:

February 7-11: Artist Patty Carreras works with Southside first-graders.

February 28-March 3: Artist Clayton Scott works with Southside fifth-graders.

March 7-11: Clayton Scott returns to Batesville West Magnet.

T Tauri Film Festival accepting submissions

T Tauri Film Festival - If you are a filmmaker in grades 6 through 12, we invite you to submit your film to the T Tauri Young Filmmakers Competition, one of the longest-running competitive youth film showcases in the country. While only a few films can be winners, a large number of entries will be screened for the public at the 7th T Tauri Film Festival in Batesville, Arkansas, and will be posted on the online young filmmakers screening room/learning lab, the T Tauri Galaxy.
