THV Community: Teachers, students say Y.E.S. to $4,900 opportunity

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Arkansas teachers now have the opportunity to compete for a share of $2,200 in cash awards and student teams compete for a share of $2,700 in cash awards by participating in the new 9-12th grade business plan competition.

Arkansas Economic Acceleration Foundation recently launched a Youth Entrepreneur Showcase (YES) designed to expose Arkansas students and teachers to entrepreneurship.

Participating teams can win in two categories: Most Innovative Product or Service and Best Business Plan. Teachers and sponsors may go online and fill out the required Intent-to-Compete form. The innovative Y.E.S. 2.0 website is designed to help teachers and students learn to write a business plan quickly and easily.

AEAF created an interactive site that includes videoconferencing, web navigation and social media widgets in order to provide teams with the necessary online tools needed to maintain a competitive advantage in today's global market place. Y.E.S. 2.0 wants to help teach today's students to become tomorrow's entrepreneur.

"Y.E.S. is designed to encourage Arkansas's students to act upon their ideas and talents -those are the ideas that will produce tomorrow's businesses," said Kerri Daniels, Executive Director of Arkansas Economic Acceleration Foundation (AEAF).

The Arkansas Economic Acceleration Foundation is dedicated to participating in activities that promote entrepreneurship and economic growth in Arkansas.
