Batesville factory to shutdown, city trying to attract other business | News
BATESVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - Pilgrim's Pride has officially announced that it will stop production within two months, according to Larry Jones for Independence County Economic Development.
Jones said although the plant is closing, Independence County Economic Development Inc., County Judge and Quorum Court have approved an incentive package to quickly attract other businesses to the site to resume operations and rehire employees. He added that Ozark Mountain Poultry located in Rogers has already expressed an interest.
Funding for the incentive package came from a ¼ cent sales tax passed by voters in 2008.
It is unknown how many employees currently work for Pilgrim's Pride.
