BATESVILLE, Ark. Lyon receives $1 million gift from Wilson family

As the beginning phase of construction begins on new residence halls, Lyon College is proud to announce the receipt of a $1 million lead pledge from the R.E. Lee Wilson Trust Foundation to help fund the new residence halls.

“Lyon College is blessed with a long series of Board Chairmen who have been willing to lead by example. Chairman Wilson, I am pleased to say, is continuing that tradition.  Lyon is at a critical time in its history, and Chairman Wilson’s leadership sets the right tone at this time for the college and the Board of Trustees,” said Dr. Donald Weatherman, president of Lyon.

Changes to School Immunization Requirements Effective 2014-15 School Year

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (ADH) – Children who will be 11 years of age or older on or before September 1 of each school year will be required to receive a Tdap shot in order to attend public or private school in Arkansas. This new requirement is anticipated to be effective September 1, 2014. Previously a Tdap shot was required for students entering Grade 7. Only one Tdap is required, so children who have already received the shot will not need another. Students who will be 11 years old on or before September 1 will have until October 1 to meet this new shot requirement.

The three of them said Hodges is the absolute definition of a hero as she works closely with children and provides an in-home day care service for low-income families.

A Place to Call Home: Sierra

A Place to Call Home: Sierra

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Time and again, we've shared with you stories of abandoned, abused, and neglected children, left behind for the state to care for.

Through THV11's partnership with the Arkansas Department of Human Services, our effort is to help find these children forever homes.

In the case of a 17-year-old, life comes full circle in this story, except one thing is missing: a family to call her own.

"I thought they were precious," Sierra said with a smile at the Humane Society of Pulaski County.

Their innocent yips for attention, along with their sweet puppy eyes, was all enough to melt the 17-year-old's heart

A pup named Franklin and a kitten named Vida have Sierra's full attention. This is the only place she wants to be.

"I really love horses, cats, dogs, all of the above," Sierra told us.
