Join us for the College's first Black Tie Blue Jeans Ball Feb. 24 at the Cow Palace at Chimney Rock in Concord, Arkansas.

The black-tie event will feature dinner, silent and live auctions and a dance.

Individual tickets are $75. A singles package is $175 and includes one ticket, lodging and transportation to the event.

A couples package is $250 and includes two tickets, lodging and transportation to the event.

Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2645 White Drive in Batesville, will be presenting "Night of Wonder, Night of Joy" at 11:00 on December 18. The production will be performed by the Adult Choir and the Youth Program. Everyone is invited to attend.

Library hosts chili supper

The Friends of the Mabee-Simpson Library at Lyon College are getting ready for its annual chili/soup supper and auctions.

The feast will begin at 5 p.m at the Mabee-Simpson Library Dec. 1 with an ongoingbake sale, followed by the silent auction from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.There will also be a live auction at 6 p.m

Past items included a digital camera, flat screen TV, home-made cheesecake, and dinner parties. Besides the auctions and bake sale, there will be chili and soup to eat, all kinds from hot and spicy, mild, low-fat and using just about any meat or vegetable.

There is no admission fee, but prices for the chili are $3 for students/Friends members, $5 for adults, children under 12 free.

AETN kicks off the holiday season with broadcast premiere of Curious George movie on PBS KIDS

 

The Arkansas Educational Television Network will feature the broadcast premiere of the original Curious George movie, which will air as part of the “Curious George” Holiday Spectacular, Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 7 a.m.

A three-movie on-air event, the Holiday Spectacular kicks off with “Curious George,” followed by “Curious George 2: Follow That Monkey” and “Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas.”

Encore presentations of the Holiday Spectacular will air: Thursday, Nov. 24, at 11 a.m. on AETN-1; Friday, Nov. 25, at 8 a.m. on AETN Plus (AETN-3); and Saturday, Nov. 26, at 6 a.m. on AETN Plus.

“Curious George” follows everyone’s favorite spunky monkey as he sets off on a series of adventures. In the film, after the Man with the Yellow Hat accidentally brings George back from a business trip to Africa, the unlikely twosome embarks on a fun-filled journey through the big city and ultimately finds their way to a lasting friendship.

AETN Foundation offers tickets to Celtic Thunder; group members to make in-studio appearance

 

Tickets to the performance of “Celtic Thunder” Sunday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the Robinson Center Music Hall in Little Rock are now available exclusively through the Arkansas Educational Television Network Foundation.

“Celtic Thunder” is a group featuring six male vocalists: Neil Byrne, 32, of Ireland; Emmet Cahill, 20, of Mullingar, County Westmeath in Ireland; George Donaldson, 42, of Glasgow, Scotland; Keith Harkin, 25 of Derry, Northern Ireland; Ryan Kelly, 33, of Moy in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland; and the newest member, Daniel Furlong, 13, of Taghmon in County Wexford on the Southeast coast of Ireland.

Tickets are also available for a special performance by Harkin, with special guests Rebecca Harkin and Cahill, in the AETN studios Monday, Nov.
