Man arrested for fake prescriptions

BATESVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - One man's addiction led to his arrest after forging his father's prescriptions.

Jonathan D. Simpson, 24, was arrested outside a Batesville pharmacy Monday after he allegedly tried to obtain three different narcotics with a fake prescription.

According to officials, Simpson would use a program on his computer along with an online purchase of 'medical prescription paper' to create the drug prescriptions.

Independence County Sheriff's Investigator Jeff Sims said that the pharmacy suspected that something was wrong by looking at the doctor's signature on the prescription paper, and that Simpson would only pay with cash.

Simpson was charged with possession of a controlled substance by fraudulent practices, class D felony.

His bond was set at $5,000.
