BATESVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - Awards were given to the winners of the 10th Annual Chamber Golf Classic.

In June of 2015 at The Course at Eagle Mountain, 120 golfers from thirty teams competed. Teams were divided into three flights.

Batesville Foundation donates money to IMPACT Independence County

BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Batesville Independence County Economic Development Foundation (BICEDF) Board of Directors has voted to help fund the efforts of the IMPACT Independence County strategic planning initiative.

Visually impaired woman awarded Consumer of the Year

BATESVILLE, Ark. (Arkansas Department of Human Services) - Renee Meeler of Batesville, who is visually impaired, has been named the area’s outstanding Consumer of the Year by the Department of Human Services Division of Services for the Blind (DSB).

Meeler is employed as a Program Eligibility Supervisor with DHS Division of County Operations Access Arkansas Processing Center in Batesville. She was involved in the center’s inception four years ago.

DSB Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor Darline Tucker nominated her for the achievement award because of her determination to overcome adversity and succeed at work. “Mrs. Meeler has worked in one capacity or another with DHS for the past 27 years, which is an exemplary accomplishment in my opinion and serves as a testament to her impressive work ethic and dedication.”

BACC to hold main street loft ribbon cutting

BACC to hold main street loft ribbon cutting

BATESVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - The Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Main Street Loft on Thursday, June 4 at 5:30 p.m.

The ribbon cutting will be held in conjunction with the mayor’s monthly meeting, which begins at 5 p.m. The Main Street Loft is an event venue located on the third floor of the Barnett Building at 267 E. Main St. in Batesville.

The Main Street Loft is now available for event rentals. To reserve the space, call Main Street Batesville at (870) 698-1555.

Lyon receives grant from the Winthrop Rockefelller Foundation

BATESVILLE, Ark. (Lyon)- A grant from the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation will help young men attending Lyon College become leaders in Arkansas.
 
The Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation awarded Lyon $125,000 to fund the “Spragins Scholars: Transforming Men from Low-Income Backgrounds into Leader-Advocates for Arkansas” program. The grant will support academic, leadership, professional, and social development programming for low-income male students. The goal is to help marginalized young men become leaders in their communities across the state. The grant will be paid in four annual installments from April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2019.
 

BACC to hold BleuDog ribbon cutting

BACC to hold BleuDog ribbon cutting

BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) will hold a ribbon cutting for BleuDog on Saturday, May 9 at 11 a.m.

BleuDog, located at 1375 E. College St. in Batesville, will also be hosting Adopt-A-BleuDog from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on that Saturday, May 9.

The adoption event is held in partnership with the Humane Society of Independence County and title sponsor Southern Bank. All adopted pets will receive a free health screening. In addition, vendors and a live radio broadcast will be on site, and BleuDog will give away prizes. RSVP at www.mybatesville.org.

This event is free to the public. All community supporters, chamber members, ambassadors, board members, and staff are invited to attend.
