The Batesville Symphony League Presents Soloist Limmie Pulliam

BATESVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - Lyon College will be hosting Soloist Limmie Pulliam with Delta Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, November 1. 

The Batesville Symphony League will present Pulliam on November 1 at 3 p.m. The performance will take place at Lyon College Brown Chapel.

Ticket prices include:

Adult- $15

Senior- $12

Student- $5

Family- $30

Lyon faculty, staff and students-free

UACCB to host third annual Cyber Security Summit

BATESVILLE, Ark. – With cybercrimes becoming an ever-growing concern, it is important for the public to educate themselves about the threats and ways to protect themselves from these crimes.

The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville will present a Cyber Security Summit lasting from 1 p.m. till 3:30 p.m. on October 27 in the Nursing and Allied Health Building Lecture Hall, room 902.

This is a free event, and the public is invited to attend.

Country singer Kevin Mac to kick off Performing Arts Series at UACCB

BATESVILLE – Up-and-coming country music singer Kevin Mac will kick off the Performing Arts Series at 7 p.m. on October 13 at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville. 

Mac’s show, “Classic Country Jukebox,” is a tribute to the music of country legends like Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Sr., George Jones, Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton and more. Mac puts his own fresh spin on classic hits while engaging his audience in this fun, feel-good show.

A native of King George County, Va., Mac grew up on country and bluegrass music. Despite his youth, he has a great deal of experience in the music industry, opening for headliners such as Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Martina McBride, Trace Adkins and Colt Ford. He’s also collaborated with some of the most accomplished songwriters in country music. Mac signed his first major record publishing deal with a Los Angeles-based studio in 2014.

Old Independence Regional Museum hosts "A Night at the Museum"

BATESVILLE, Ark. - Inspired by the Night at the Museum films, Old Independence Regional Museum will host A Night at the Museum on Friday, October 30 from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m.  

This family-friendly event will feature a fun evening of character interactions, crafts and refreshments.   Admission for the evening is $5 per person.  Bring your camera because photos are encouraged, no flash please.  Visitors are invited to come as they are or dress in their favorite costume.

In the museum’s Civil War exhibit, visitors will meet Emily Weaver, Nannie Wilson and Emma Burr, three teenaged girls living in Batesville during the Civil War.  These ladies didn’t let the war get them down.  They enjoyed the new social opportunities that the war brought to Batesville by hosting balls and parties for the soldiers.   Join the ladies, as they discuss the latest happenings.

IMPACT Committees set next meeting dates

BATESVILLE, Ark. - The IMPACT Independence County committees began forming at the second community-wide IMPACT meeting on Thursday, Sept. 10.

The co-chairs, which were selected via committee vote at the September 10 meeting, will undergo chair training at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville (UACCB) on Thursday, September 17 at 6 p.m. Following Thursday’s co-chair training, the IMPACT committees will begin their respective meetings.
