Groundbreaking for new concession at North Complex Park

Two local businessmen have come forward with a donation to help fund a concession stand that burned at the north complex nearly a year ago.

Tuesday night, the Batesville City Council approved a resolution to contract with Stanley Wood Chevrolet Co. for the sponsorship of the concession stand and one ball field at the north complex, and one ball field at Fitzhugh Park. Stanley Wood will pay $30,000 for five years, with signage advertising the dealership at both parks and the right to display vehicles at the facilities during special events. Parks director Jeff Owens said local businessmen Scott Wood and Phil Brissey had approached the city about the deficit on a new concession stand at the north complex and he thanked them for coming forward with the offer. Under the agreement, the city provides the signs as well as their maintenance. The ground breaking ceremony was held at 4:30 on Wednesday, October 26.
