Lyon College Flute Choir Spring Concert

The Flute Choir will perform works by Bach, Bizet, Debussy, Grieg, and Claude-MIchel Schoenberg under the direction of Laura Stinson. Senior Recital: Diana Turnbo, Mezzo-Soprano

Lyon senior Diana Turno will have her senior recital April 20, 2013 at 7:30 pm.

Turnbo will perform works by Bach, Bizet, Debussy, Faure, Rossini, and Schumann. This recital will be held in the Bevens Music Room in Brown Chapel at Lyon College in Batesville, Ark.

Hembrey to speak at Crystal Bridges

Arkansas-born artist Shea Hembrey, ’96, will give a lecture and interview at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville on Feb. 24. The event will be at 3 p.m. in the Great Hall. 

Hembrey recently presented a TED Talk titled “How I Became 100 Artists” about the catalogue for the international biennial Seek, whose inaugural exhibition showcases the work of 100 artists. However, this catalogue is completely fictional — invented by Hembrey, who created all the actual artworks, many of which were made while he was working in Arkansas.

Wests to attend Quapaw Quartet concert

Wests to attend Quapaw Quartet concert

The upcoming West Endowed Concert will be the first one attended by Dr. Dan C. West since he and his wife, Sidney, left Lyon College in 1988.

Dr. West was president of Lyon (then Arkansas College) for 16 years. He and Mrs. West established the string concert series in 1981.

The Quapaw Quartet, the resident string quartet of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, will perform in the annual West Endowed Concert on Friday, Feb. 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the Bevens Music Room at Lyon College.

Cast announced for 'Twelfth Night'

Cast announced for 'Twelfth Night'

The cast has been selected for the spring production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Rehearsals begin Monday, and performances are Feb. 21-24. The play is being directed by Dr. Michael L. Counts and designed by Debra P. Holmes.
