Donate your old ink jet cartridges, toner cartridges, cell phones, and iPods to the Batesville Area Arts Council. We are able to get money back for recycling these items. The "green" dollars that we earn go to helping us fund our programs in the community.

BATESVILLE, Ark. -- "Go for Baroque" is a group of regional touring musicians from Oklahoma City. They will provide a community concert at Independence Hall at UACCB on Monday, April 11.

"Go for Baroque" brings a wealth of experience and a sense of humor and humanity to their audiences. Heralded for their unique choice of repertoire and warm personal approach to chamber music, this very talented group of musicians creates the experience, the journey, and the intimacy in a style of performing which has brought them acclaim.

BATESVILLE, Ark. -- The 2011 Ozark Foothills Film Festivals is officially underway Wednesday!

The festival features shorts, documentaries, and narratives created by filmmakers around the world. Featured films include "Islam in Arkansas," "Insignificant Others" and "The Crisis Mr. Faubus Made." There are also several mixers and receptions scheduled throughout the week.

Scholarships available at Oxford American Writers' Summit

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Oxford American will offer five scholarships (including tuition, room, and board) for Arkansas college students to attend the inaugural Oxford American Summit for Ambitious Writers occurring June 21–26, 2011, at Winthrop Rockefeller Institute on Petit Jean Mountain.

"These scholarships will allow the most promising young writers at Arkansas colleges to learn from some of the best writers and editors in the nation," said Marc Smirnoff, editor of The Oxford American.  "We are pleased to be able to extend this opportunity to our home-state students."

The scholarships will be awarded to the five best student applications (as judged by the Summit’s Fiction and Creative Nonfiction admission boards) received from two- and four-year Arkansas colleges and universities.

Patty Carreras-Silent Comedy 6-8 p.m.

Batesville Chamber of Commerce - Patty Carreras will be a featured artist in the BAAC Art Gallery on Main on March 17th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Due to the weather from February’s Second Friday, Patty will be returning to work with the schools and also provide a wonderful evening of fun at the gallery.

The program will be called: COMEDY, Characters and IMPROV. The Workshop will be after the third piece and will center around silent comedy, characterizations and Improv --and is really the highlight of the program--despite the age.

Batesville Chamber of Commerce - Jim Oberst will have work in the BAAC Art Gallery on Main beginning March 8th through March 27th. He will also be the featured artist for Main Street’s Wander and Wonder’s Second Friday from 5 – 8 p.m. on March 11th. He will do a couple demonstrations in the gallery; one about 5:15 and another about 6:30 or so that people can come and go.
