AETN's 'Clean Lines, Open Spaces' wins three Emmys

CONWAY, Ark. (AETN) — “Clean Lines, Open Spaces: A View of Mid-Century Modern Architecture,” a production of the Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN), received three Emmys in the 2012 annual awards competition of the Mid-America Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS).

“There is no greater sense of satisfaction than being recognized by one’s talented peers in this industry, especially those who vote in the regional Emmy Awards competition,” AETN Director of Production Carole Adornetto said.

“Clean Lines, Open Spaces,” a documentary by AETN Senior Producer Mark Wilcken, explores mid-century modern architecture through a regional lens of the American south. The film details how international influences helped shape the built environment of Arkansas after World War II.

The one-hour film was recognized with an award for Best Cultural Documentary, and Wilcken received individual awards for Best Writing and Best Editing.

LITTLE ROCK, AR – The Arkansas Arts Council, an agency of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, has awarded $1,178,773 to 93 Arkansas organizations for Fiscal Year 2013. This investment in community arts and educational activities is funded by state funds and the National Endowment for the Arts. Bork, Dahl elected to BAAC board

Bork, Dahl elected to BAAC board

Dustyn Bork, assistant professor of art at Lyon College, was elected to serve as the vice president on the Board of Directors of the Batesville Area Arts Council. Carly Dahl, Kresge Gallery director at Lyon College, was elected to serve as Secretary on the Board of Directors. The mission of the Council exists to enrich peoples’ lives in the Batesville area through the promotion of the arts and to serve as a unified voice for the arts community. The Arts in Education program and the BAAC on Main Street Art Gallery are under the direct supervision of the BAAC Board of Directors. 

Bork and Dahl also were recently elected to serve on the Board of Directors for Number, an independent arts journal.  Number: inc is a non-profit organization of the Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi tri-state region and publisher of Number out of Memphis, TN.

BATESVILLE, Ark. -- The University of Arkansas Community College will host the T. Tauri Movie Camp starting July 17-28 in the Landers Theatre Building of the Fellowship Bible Church of Batesville.  Digital filmmaking workshops for kids and teens entering grades four through 12. Offerings include script to screen, narrative filmmaking, ccting on camera, and claymation. Registration information available at www.ttauri.org . It's So Official - Little Rock Fashion Week 2012!

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 16-21) - For fashion enthusiasts from everywhere, it's that time of year for fun, bright lights, action, fashion and entertainment that they've been waiting to experience - Little Rock Fashion Week (LRFW). The fourth annual LRFW is July 16-21. This year LRFW is being held at locations throughout Little Rock and North Little Rock. The experience will highlight the fashion brands by emerging local, national, and European designers, including the art by hairstylists, makeup artists and popular musicians.

It's an experience that promises to be one-of-a-kind throughout, and Brandon D. Campbell, LRFW's founder and executive producer, isn't sparing too many details on the creative aspects of each presentation. He's describing the 2012 installment as "reality fashionment experiences."

Featuring both the winners and official selections of the 8th Annual T Tauri Young Filmmakers Competition and T Tauri Movie Camp, the finale for the film festival is an open screening for anyone who wants to attend. It will be held at the U of A Community College and admission ranges from $2 - $5.
