BATESVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville had a few announcements to make coming into the New Year.

Not only did the university hire a new cashier in the UACCB business office, but officials also named the outstanding faculty member for 2015.

Vernon Hoffman was named the 2015 outstanding faculty member on Wednesday. He teaches major and non-major biology, human anatomy and physiology I and II, essentials of anatomy and physiology, botany, zoology and field techniques on campus. He holds a bachelor’s of science in wildlife management and ecology and a master’s of science in biology from Arkansas State University.

Hoffman has been married to wife Lydia for 18 years.  They have four sons: Collin, 14; Caleb, 12; Hunter, 11; and Devon, 9. Hoffman is a deacon and the treasurer at the Faith of the Apostles Church in Walnut Ridge.

“Mr. Hoffman has a focus on student success and has been a campus leader when it comes to embracing new technologies to aid students in their academic endeavors,” said Brian Shonk, vice chancellor for academic affairs at UACCB. “Mr. Hoffman has become especially adept at video recording his lectures and making them available for student use.”
